Youth D&D: Welcome to Blackwood

Welcome to Blackwood is our Dungeons & Dragons introductory session, introducing kids to both the game of D&D, and to the world our adventures take place in.  It is highly recommended that you participate in the ‘Welcome to Blackwood’ event before any other Knights of Blackwood D&D events.  Note: This is a repeat event, we intend to host Welcome to Blackwood every three months or so, so if you’ve already participated in this adcenture you should skip this one.

When: Sunday, March 3rd, 10:00am – 1:00pm

Entry Fee: $15.00 per participant

Player Slots: We only have 8 slots maximum for players for this session, so sign up now and reserve your spot!  We require at least three players in a session to proceed with it.  If we are full we can add you to the reserve list.

Age Restriction: This is a Knights of Blackwood event, so age is restricted to 6 – 16 years old.  However, parents or guardians are welcome to register as well if they wish to join in the fun!

You Get:

Every participant gets a Hero’s Reward card for participating, which can be used on a variety of rewards including a free Pet, or a snack or drink!

Option (+$12.00): Get a set of RPG Dice and a miniature representing your character – both chosen from our huge variety of stock!

The Game: Welcome to Blackwood’ is our introductory D&D session storyline – this is the perfect entry event for new players, and any kids that haven’t yet played D&D at our store.  The region of Blackwood is introduced, the basics of role-play are explained, and the adventure begins!  This session will have a dedicated Staff as Game Master who will guide the players through the session.

All pages, maps, enemy characters, and other necessary items will be provided by the store – the only thing players must have is a miniature for their character, and a set of RPG dice (see the ‘Option’ above if you don’t already have these.

Youth D&D: March Break Game Camp

We are very excited to present our first March Break D&D Game Camp!  Our Game Camp will be five days long, running from 11:00am – 4:00pm each day, beginning on Monday and wrapping up on Friday.  We are flexible with pick-up and drop off times, so talk to us if you need to make arrangements.

Focus: The focus of our Dungeons & Dragons Camp will be learning the rules, character-building, and playing through our own multi-day session of Dungeons & Dragons.  We will touch on story-building and Game-Mastering as well.  By the end of the week we will have players comfortable in the rules of the game, able to create their own character, and ready to join in organized events, or kitchen-table play with friends.

Camps are recommended for participants aged 8-16, and all participants are encouraged to join our free youth gaming club The Knights of Blackwood.

D&D Game Camp: March 11 – March 15

Entry Fee: $120.00 including all applicable taxes

Included: Participants will get our Dungeons & Dragons Beginner’s Package, which will include advice and resources to take home, as well as the following:

  • Their choice of RPG mini to represent their character
  • A set of RPG dice
  • 3 Knights of Blackwood Pets
  • The D&D Starter set to take home and create their own adventures (or if you, or your family, already have it an equal amount of credit towards D&D)
  • Participants will have access to all store resources, like paper, pencils, and all the tools to run our adventure.

Multiple Participants:  If you have multiple participants from the same family (siblings, or parent-child for example) each additional participant is $10.00 OFF.

Capacity: Our Game Camps all have a maximum of 16 participants, so sign up early to reserve your spot!

Family D&D: Guardians of Blackwood

In February we will be running a very special parent/guardian-kid session of D&D on Family Day!

When: Monday, February 18th (Family Day STAT)

Session 1:  11:00am – 2:00pm
Session 2:  3:00pm – 6:00pm (Only if demand is sufficient for second slot)

Entry Fee: $15.00 per participant, please register at least one parent or guardian along with at least on kid.

Player Slots: We only have 8 slots maximum for players for each session, so sign up now and reserve your spot!  We require at least three players in a session to proceed with it.  If we are full we can add you to the reserve list, and will add ‘Session 2’ to the shcedule

Experience Required: This is not an absolute beginner session, like Welcome to Blackwood.  To participate either the parent/guardian or the child should have either attended our Welcome to Blackwood event, or have had a good amount of experience with D&D 5e.

Age Restriction: This is a Knights of Blackwood event, so age is restricted to 6 – 16 years old.  However, parents or guardians are required to register as well for this family-focused!

Every participant gets a Hero’s Reward card for participating, which can be used on a variety of rewards including a free Pet, or a snack or drink!

Option (+$12.00): If they didn’t take advantage of the bundle during our Welcome to Blackwood event participants can get a set of RPG Dice and a miniature representing your character – both chosen from our huge variety of stock!

The Game: Guardians of Blackwood’ is a new adventure in our D&D session storyline.

An exploration of the Knights of Blackwood uncovers the secrets of an ancient order of protectors: the Guardians of Blackwood.  Can the adventurers and their unexpected new allies save the day!? 

All pages, maps, enemy characters, and other necessary items will be provided by the store – the only thing players must have is a miniature for their character, and a set of RPG dice (see the ‘Option’ above if you don’t already have these.

Participants can either continue to use their character from previous KoB adventures, or can create a new level 1 D&D character in advance – just clear the character with Cody beforehand.  Parents & Guardians must have/create a new character at level 4 – we can help you with that (beforehand if possible).

The Game: Enter the Lost World’ is a new adventure in our D&D session storyline.

Using the airship, adventurers decide to explore a mysterious valley full of lush, thick jungle.  What dangers await them?

MTG Youth Prerelease Ravnica Allegiance

The Knights of Blackwood is our FREE to join Youth Program.  Our goal is to provide great events for the younger players in the shop to participate in, and to that end we are very excited to bring you a Youth-Focused Prerelease event for Magic: the Gathering!

When: SUN, January 20, 2:00pm – 5:00pm

Entry Fee: $35.00 -or- 9 Hero’s Rewards

Event Details: This is a Prerelease Event, which means that you get cards from the new Ravnica Allegiance set a WEEK before they are released!  Participants will get packs, and build a deck at the event.  They will then play games with others and win prizes!  Play is open, but we will help players find opponents.

What You Get: All Participants will get a guild-specific Prerelease Pack that includes 6 Booster Packs, a Dice, and a Foil Pomo Card (taken from the Rares/Mythic Rares of the set).  Additionally all participants will get an extra Booster Pack, and a Hero’s Reward for participating.  Lastly, all Knights of Blackwood members will get a free Knights of Blackwood Pet!

Adult Mentors: The Knights of Blackwood is a program for kids ages 6-16, however anyone can participate in this event.  If you are older than 16 years old, you will be a ‘mentor’ helping out the younger players with rules and being a good example of a good sport.  Mentors will get all the same rewards as younger players, except the Pets.

Prizes: Everyone that plays a game will earn another Ravnica Allegiance booster pack, and when you win your first match you earn another!  Combine that with the free pack you get for joining in and every player gets 3 packs!  Anyone that plays at least 3 matches will get another Hero’s Reward (and will get that third pack if they didn’t win any).

Everyone’s favorite Onion King, Dave, is going home for the holidays.  Join Dave as he tries to save Onion Land from the evil forces of the Dark Master, and learn the true meaning of Cepamas.

KoB: MTG Tournament (Youth)

The Knights of Blackwood is our FREE to join Youth Program.  Our goal is to provide great events for the younger players in the shop to participate in, and to that end we are very excited to bring new and experienced players a great inexpensive tournament experience!

When: SUN, November 25th, 12:00pm – 4:00pm

Entry Fee: $5.00 -or- 2 Hero’s Rewards

Event Details: 3-4 Rounds, 50mins/Round.  Sanctioned – Casual.  This is a Constructed tournament, which means that you bring a 60+ card deck that you’ve built to the event to play with.  There is no specific format to the deck, just bear in mind that most people will be beginners – so if you consider yourself more of an expert please don’t bring a deck that super expensive deck that you think will just destroy everyone.  We’re all here to have fun!

What You Get: All Participants will get a Hero’s Reward and a free Knights of Blackwood Pet for participating!  Anyone that plays all 3/4 matches of the event will win a Booster Pack, and the winner of the tournament will win an extra pack!

A wondrous and mystical circus has come to the town of Blackmoor. Come one, come all, and experience a show like none other! But not everything about the circus is as it seems, and as kids begin to go missing, the Knights of Blackwood are called once more to get to the bottom of this mystery.
