Warcry Narrative League

Rule the Varanspire and prove your worth to the Everchosen in our Warcry Narrative league! Here’s how it works. Players will work through their faction’s narrative campaign as described in the Warcry rulebook. There are no assigned games, and players are encouraged to play as many games as possible throughout the duration of the league, keeping track of the upgrades and items that their fighters acquire.

The goal of the league is to complete your faction’s campaign in as few games as possible. This means that players who complete their campaign will have a minimum of 12 games, assuming they win every game they play when completing their storyline, but just because you’ve completed your story doesn’t mean you can’t be part of someone else’s! Once you’ve completed your warbands storyline you can continue to play games and level up your fighters, and we’ll also have a prize for the player with the most games by the end of the campaign, regardless of whether they’ve completed their campaign. Monsters and Mercenaries will be able to be used during the campaign.

Games can be played at Black Knight for the league any time, however players are encouraged to come out on Mondays for league night to meet others and to get more games in!

Prizes: We have the Warcry OP kit, which means we’ll have medals for the 3 warbands that complete their campaigns in the fewest games, as well as token sets for top 10, and posters for Best in Faction. In addition, we’ll have prizes for the warband that plays the most games, and for the best painted warband.

D&D Knights of the Red Dragon Inn SEP

Our next multi-part adventure for ‘Knights of the Red Dragon Inn’, will run on Monday evenings this September!

When: Monday Evenings, from September 9th – September 30th, 6:00pm

Entry Fee: $40.00 – or – 9 Hero’s Rewards, this entry covers all four sessions

Event Cap: We have only eight spots available for this group, so if you are interested in joining sign up now!  If we fill up we will add you to the waiting list, and if we get 8 players on that list we may add a second group.

What you need: A set of RPG dice is required.  It is recommended that you have your own Player’s Handbook, and a miniature to represent your character, but not mandatory.

What you get: You will have a dedicated staff run the adventure for your as DM.  The DM will distribute some fun prizes & Hero’s Rewards as you prove yourselves in the adventure, and have fun moments.  You do not need to attend all four sessions, but your entry fee does cover them all.

New and experienced D&D players are welcome, so feel free to join us even if you are new to Dungeons & Dragons, or if you aren’t familiar with the world – the DM will guide you and help you with whatever you need to know!

MTG Commander League

Join us for a four week long Magic: the Gathering Commander League!  You’ll be able to switch up your deck, play games whenever works for you, and compete with others for the honour of being the Top Commander!

Begins: Monday, March 25th
Ends: Monday, April 15th

Entry Fee: $10.00 -or- 3 Hero’s Rewards
Stronghold Members Get: 1 Hero’s Reward for joining

Structure: Players can play Commander League games against others in the league whenever they wish, although there is a bonus for playing on our Casual Mondays MTG day.  Games can be from 2 to 8 players.  When the players play they should grab a match result slip, and submit it to the staff when it is done, with everyone’s points on it.

Each player will earn and lose points based on how well they did, and if they had to resort to foolishness to win the match.  At the end of the league players will earn prizes for both having the most overall points, but also for specific accomplishments.

Match Scoring:

Players earn the following points for their performance in matches:

[+2] Per opponent eliminated
[+1] Eliminating an opponent by attacking with commander
[+1] Save another player from elimination
[-1] Going in an infinite loop
[-1] Taking an extra turn
[-2] Eliminate a player before their 5th turn

[+2] Points for playing at least one match on a Monday.

[+/-?]Each week a special surprise match modifier will also be in play in order to keep things interesting, to be announced each week.


The winner will get a playmat, and additional prizes will be awarded as well for the top players.

players will also win a Hero’s Reward for winning one of the following categories:

Punisher – Most Opponents Eliminated
Job Done Right – Most Kills with Commander
The Savior – Most Saves of another player
Infinite Gauntlet – Most Times Gone Infinite
Marty McFly Award – Most Times Taking an Extra Turn

Additionally players will vote at the end for their favorite opponents, with a Hero’s Reward awarded to the following recipients:

Best Interactive Deck
Best Sportsperson
Most Inventive Deck
Most Hilarious Deck

Guild Ball: BKGBL Season 3

Guild Ball Season Three begins this month!  Registration opens today!

When: The league will start on March 18th

Sign up: Register your team by March 16th, if you wish to participate in this season.

Entry Fee: $10.00 // 4 Hero’s Rewards

Format: At the beginning of the league we’ll announce the players you will play.  Over eight weeks, you’ll be assigned to play six other people in the league and get points for winning and losing (if you don’t play a game you get no points).  You’ll also be able to play up to six additional pickup games with anyone (no more than two pick-up games against any individual).  At the end of the eight week regular season, the four players with the most points will be seeded into a bracketed elimination to crown a Guild Ball Season 3 Champion.

Scoring:  Assigned games are worth 4 points for a win, 2 point for a draw, 1 point for a loss.  Players may also play pickup games scheduled on their own initiative with league members. Players may play up to 6 pickup games, and they are worth 2 points for a win, 1 point for a draw, 0 points for a loss.

Scheduling: At the start of the league everyone will know their six assigned opponents.  Coordinate with your opponent (via either Facebook or email) to find a good time to play a game. All games must be played at Black Knight. After completing your game, report the results to our Match Results Form.

Absences: With eight weeks to find a time, most should be able to make their matches work.  If it seems impossible please let the commissioner know as soon as possible.  If at the end of eight weeks, the game is un-played, the game is counted as a loss for both players.

Prizes: We have kits from releases, and other goodies, so players will all get some kind of sweet promo prize.  Additionally the champion will win some store credit (depending on attendance)

40K Kill Team: Narrative League

Black Knight Games is very excited to be unveiling our next Warhammer 40,000 Kill Team League!  Our first one was quick, and immediately after the release of the game, so it was pretty simple, but we had lots of players playing some great games, eager to see what we’d do with more time.  Well we thing the time was worth the wait, check out what we have in store:

Registration Deadline: March 2nd

Begins: March 5th

This is a narrative league, and will follow the rules outlined in the Kill Team Core Rules (p.202) with a couple of exceptions to how we will handle scoring and match-ups.

Team Building:

Follow the guidelines for building a Kill Teak outlined in the Core Rules, especially on p.202.  We recommend using the awesome Command Roster resource to manage your team.  Players must submit a copy of starting roster to us before their first game.


You will be assigned 6 opponents to play during the 7 week time-frame.  You may also play up to 6 pick-up games (you may play no opponent more than twice in pick-up games).  You may play these games in any order, and at any time that you can arrange with your opponents, however we recommend Tuesdays since that is our weekly Warhammer 40,000 night.

League Scoring:

Each player begins the league with 8 of each resources (Intelligence, Material, Morale, and Territory).  Losing missions means you will lose some of your resources.  If you ever drop to ‘0’ of any of these resources you will become a ‘Guerilla’ force.  It is possible to earn some resources with Specialist Upgrades.  Additionally, if you play a pick-up game and you win you earn +1 of one of the resources your opponent lost (so pick-up games risk losing resources, but you can also gain).  Once a resource hits ‘0’ it can never be added to.

At the end of the deadline anyone that has ‘Matched Games’ remaining will lose 1 of each resource.  If you believe that it’s impossible to play a matched game despite your best efforts talk with the league commissioner (Brad) and he can assign you a replacement game.

At the end of the deadline any non-guerilla teams will be compared to determine the winner.  We will look at each surviving team’s worst resource first – so it’s better to have a balance (4/4/4/4 would beat 8/3/8/8).  If there are only guerilla teams left then we will go through the same process and look at guerilla teams!


Because resources are key it is important to select your mission carefully.  Consider both players’ resources before picking.  If both players agree they can select any mission from the ‘Narrative’ or ‘Matched Play’ missions.  If they can’t come to an agreement follow the guidelines on p.203 to select your mission (both players roll off and the winner rolls on the chart).

Match Results:

After every game both players must submit their game results via our Match Submission Form.  It’s important that both players submit the form together, otherwise errors can happen.  If you let your opponent do it all then it’s on you if there is a mistake.

League Updates & Tracking:

At least once a week the league commissioner (Brad) will update the overall league standings.  Players should also track their games on the League Tracker cards provided for the most up to date resource scores.

The Spoils of War:

The OP Kit that we have for this league is so full of cool swag that it’s just silly.  You can get more details about the specifics of the OP kit on the Warhammer Community Page, but here are the crucial bits:

Winners Medalions: The top three players overall at the end will get some truly awesome metal Kill Team medallions (Gold/Silver/Bronze)

Kill Team Swag: Every game you play will get you a stamp on the back of your league tracker card, every four stamps you collect will earn you some cool stuff: a Kill Team Dice set with your first 4 games played, and a set of acrylic Kill Team Objectives with your second 4 games played!

Best-in-Faction Badges: But that’s not all, because the top three players in each and every faction will also earn a unique Best-in-Faction badge!

Tactics Cards: All players will also get a small pack of Tactics Cards and a League Tracker card when they play their first game!

MTG Standard Showdown Ravnica Allegiance

Black Knight Games is happy to announce that we will be running Standard Showdown each Saturday during the Ravnica Allegiance season!  Showdown is great because in addition to our regular Standard prize pool, we will be adding 9 Standard Showdown packs too!

When: Saturday Evenings, beginning at 6:00pm (Registration begins at 5:30pm)

The Ravnica Allegiance Showdown season runs from SAT, Feb 9 – SAT, Apr 6

Entry Fee: $8.00 // $7.00 if you are a Stronghold Member // 2 Hero’s Rewards

Format: Standard, 3-4 Rounds based on attendance (usually 4), No Cut

Prizes: 1.5 Ravnica Allegiance Booster Packs/Player will be added to a Prize Pool to be split among the top players. Additionally at each event we will give out 9 Standard Showdown packs (Players that go at least x-1 player will each get at least one, and the rest will be passed out randomly among those that attend.  These events do not count towards the FNM Standard standings.

Standard Showdown Packs: The nine packs given out each event are a special 4-Card booster pack that will include

  • 2 rare or mythic rare cards from a currently legal Standard set
  • 1 foil basic land
  • 1 foil card of any rarity from a currently legal Standard set

Blood Bowl: BKBBL Season 15

Nommonlir Brewrock huffed off the field exultation swarming his senses as he and his team-mates popped the best ales to celebrate their Season 14 Championship.  It had been a long hard run, but they had gotten there.  Not a single dwarf in that locker room had avoided bumps or bruises, but they had proven their worth.  Just as he was about to chug his first gulp of Bugman’s Special Reserve his coach thrust a piece of paper in to his hands, the same hands that had scored 17 touchdowns this season.

“What’s this?” Nommonlir asked?

“Season 15 schedule!” coach replied, “practice starts now!”

Nummonlir took a long drought of his ale, that would have do for celebrations, they had a championship to defend…

Blood Bowl Season 15 will kick off on Saturday Nov 24th.  If you’re an avid sports fan or miniature gamer, who like a real challenge and enjoys developing characters in any game, then Blood bowl is the game for you.

Season 15 Begins: Saturday, November 24 2018

Registration Deadline: Friday, November 19 2018

Entry Fee: $10.00

Organizaion: Each participant will be assigned opponents, one a week.  It is up to the coaches to arrange when to play their games with one another, and players are given a two-week window for each match to be completed.  The top teams will make the playoffs, and will get their chance to with the Championship!

The season will be a minimum of 10 weeks long, and a maximum of 14 weeks.  Don’t miss your chance to be a champion or at least the chance to stomp your friends into the turf!

Game Rules: The league will use any official rules, including those in the Almenac, Death Zone books, Spike Magazines, or White Dwarf that are published before November 24th.  Any rules printed after the league begins will not be used this season.

Players need the following to play:

  • A Pitch
  • A Team, with the players properly numbered
  • At least one pack of Special Play cards
  • Blood Bowl Dice
  • Tokens to track re-rolls, turns, and score, as well a method to properly handle passes, and bouncing balls.  And, a ball.

Players are encouraged to have the following:

  • The Blood Bowl Almanac
  • Any additional rules sets, like Spike Magazines, that they intend to use in their games.
  • A Fully Painted Team
  • Miniatures for their coaching staff

Prizes: We will distribute cool prizes to players that do well in the playoffs, or have Star Players that perform especially well in the season.  The big prize though, is having your Championship Banner raised to the rafters along side past champs!

40K Kill Team League

With the new Kill Team rules coming out it’s the perfect time to start up a league!  Kill team is great because it appeals to new and established players, and this new version looks amazing!

Begins: Thursday, August 9
Regular Season Ends: Thursday, September 20th

Entry Fee: $10.00 -or- 4 Hero’s Rewards

Matches: Each week our participants will be assigned a match-opponent.  It’s up to our players to schedule their games with one another, preferably on our BKG 40K Facebook group.  Players will have two weeks to get each match in, either the designated week, or the one after, and if players wish they can play early (provided their other games are done).

In addition players may play one additional pick up match against any other player once per week.

In Kill-Team your team advances with each game, so your games played will help you build-up your teams.

League Scoring: Players get 3 points for winning their scheduled match, and 2 points for winning a pick-up match.  At the end of the league the top 8 players will make the playoff bracket, where we will come up to a Kill Team Champion.

Prizes: We will have prizes for our top players at the end.

Warmachine & Hordes Balance of Power League

Outmatched and outgunned, can you find a way to win?  What’ll it take to even the playing field against some of the community’s strongest players?  This is Balance of Power.

In the past our Warmachine leagues have focused on adding a fun casual element to our most competitive miniatures game.  Encouraging new and growing players to play with seasoned veterans is a key goal of growing a community and maintaining its long term health.  This time, rather than ignoring competitive elements of play, we’re leaning into them in a league format especially tuned to allow new players, veterans, and returning players to play hard against one-another with reasonable odds of winning.

When: The league will start on July 5th and conclude on August 16th

Sign up: Register any time.  We will continue to take registration throughout the course of the league because it is easy to join any time.  At the time of registration, a player may voluntarity give themselves a Handicap of as low as -3 or as high as +3.

Entry Fee: $10.00 // 3 Hero’s Rewards.  Entry fees collected will cover a variety of achievement-style rewards given out throughout the league.

Format: Win games, they get harder.  Lose them, it gets easier.  Eventually, you’re facing down the best player at the store, and somehow it feels like an even match!

Need more details?

  • Each time a player wins a game, they lose a Handicap point.  Similarly, each time a player loses a league game, they gain a Handicap point.  This Handicap is uses to balance out future games, keeping matches played during the league interesting and challenging.
  • Baseline games are played at 75 points and on a 60 min Deathclock.
  • Players compare Handicap after lists are picked, but before a match begins.
  • If one player has a positive Handicap (or no Handicap at all) and their opponent has a negative one (or no Handicap at all), each point of Handicap adds or subtracts either 3 points from a player’s list or 5 minutes from their clock (players choose how their own Handicap is applied).
  • If both players have a positive or negative Handicap, reduce those values by the same amount until one is 0.  The player left with the positive or negative value modifies their list or clock by 3 points or 5 minutes per point of Handicap.
  • Handicap has no effect on theme benefits including points spent to qualify for free solos, etc.  If a player cannot add or remove the exact number of points for their Handicap value, a list can be played without making use of all the bonus points or more points down than a Handicap would suggest.

Example 1: Adeline and Bert are playing a game.  Adeline has a +2 Handicap, while Bert has a +4.  They determine that Bert may include some extra bonuses in his time or list.  He opts to take an extra 6 point solo legal in his theme force.  This does not modify his list in any other way.  

Example 2: Colin and Dan are playing a game.  Colin has a handicap of -4, while Dan has a +1 Handicap.  Dan plays a regular 75 point list, opting to use his +1 to take 5 extra minutes for a personal Deathclock of 65 minutes.  Colin chooses to lose 6 points from his list (dropping a 6 point solo that was free in his theme list and otherwise leaving his list unchanged) and also play with a clock reduced by 10 minutes, for a personal Deathclock of 50 minutes.

Example 3: Erik and Frank are playing.  This is their first game of the league and neither one of them has a Handicap at all.  They play a standard 75 point game on a 60 minute Deathclock.  

Scheduling: Games can be played at any time, and we encourage you to play any pickup games with a league member as league match.  Because handicaps become more accurate the more games played, we strongly encourage folks to play as much as possible to get to a level where games are optimally challenging and rewarding.  As Thursdays are the regular Warmachine night, we especially encourage league participants to come out and game on this evening.

Prizes: The focus on this league is playing games and growing as a community.  Each week, players are invited to share their experiences by messaging Tim.  Tell us about your milestones!  Did you beat a player for the first time ever?  Did you win a game, despite only having 30 minutes to play it?  Over the course of the league we’ll be giving out awards/prizes for good achievements, along with displays of integrity and fair-play.  There will also be a prize of dubious value to the league participant with the most overall games played.

Guild Ball League: Season 2

When: The league will start on July 1st

Sign up: Register your team by June 28thth, if you wish to participate in this season.

Entry Fee: $10.00 // 4 Hero’s Rewards

Format: At the beginning of the league we’ll announce a schedule of weekly games.  Over six weeks, you’ll play other people in the league and get points for winning and losing (if you don’t play a game you get no points).  You’ll also be able to play up to six pickup games with anyone else in the league (it could even be the same person).  You’re get slightly fewer points for these games.  At the end of the six week regular season, the folks with the most points will be seeded into a bracketed elimination to crown a Guild Ball Season Champion.

Scoring:  Scheduled games are worth 3 points for a win, 1 point for a draw, 0 point for a loss.  Players may also play pickup games scheduled on their own initiative with league members. Players may play up to 6 pickup games, and they are worth 1 point each. Points are to be used to seed the playoff brackets at the end of the league.

Scheduling: On Mondays, there will be a post on Facebook and an email sent out to all participants with all games on it. Coordinate with your opponent (via either Facebook or email) to find a good time to play a game. All games must be played at Black Knight. After completing your game, report the results on either the Facebook BKG guild ball group or via email to Craig.

Absences: If you or your opponent is unable to make a game, then your game can be deferred. Please let the commissioner know as soon as possible. If you wish, you may be able to play a game the week before it is scheduled, if that works better. If, after a reasonable period of time, the game is unplayed, the game is counted as either a draw or a forfeit.

Prizes: We have kits from releases, and other goodies, so players will all get some kind of sweet promo prize.  Additionally the champion will win some store credit (depending on attendance)
