Youth D&D: Dave’s Fantastical Holiday Adventure

It’s time for the December D&D event for our Knights of Blackwood Youth program run by DM Cody!

When: Sunday, December 9th

Session 1:  10:00am – 1:00pm
Session 2:  2:00pm – 5:00pm

Entry Fee: $15.00 per participant

Player Slots: We only have 8 slots maximum for players for each session, so sign up now and reserve your spot!  We require at least three players in a session to proceed with it.  If we are full we can add you to the reserve list.

Experience Required: This is not an absolute beginner session, like Welcome to Blackwood.  To participate you should have either attended our Welcome to Blackwood event, or have had a good amount of experience with D&D 5e.  If you are brand new our Welcome to Blackwood sessions will repeat every few months to give you the intro you need for these more advanced sessions!

Age Restriction: This is a Knights of Blackwood event, so age is restricted to 6 – 16 years old.  However, parents or guardians are welcome to register as well if they wish to join in the fun!

You Get:

Every participant gets a Hero’s Reward card for participating, which can be used on a variety of rewards including a free Pet, or a snack or drink!

Option (+$12.00): If they didn’t take advantage of the bundle during our Welcome to Blackwood event participants can get a set of RPG Dice and a miniature representing your character – both chosen from our huge variety of stock!

The Game: Dave’s Fantastical Holiday Adventure’ is a new adventure in our D&D session storyline.

Everyone’s favorite Onion King, Dave, is going home for the holidays.  Join Dave as he tries to save Onion Land from the evil forces of the Dark Master, and learn the true meaning of Cepamas.

All pages, maps, enemy characters, and other necessary items will be provided by the store – the only thing players must have is a miniature for their character, and a set of RPG dice (see the ‘Option’ above if you don’t already have these.

Participants can either continue to use their character from previous KoB adventures, or can create a new level 1 D&D character in advance – just clear the character with Cody beforehand.

Knights of Blackwood: D&D Welcome to Blackwood

Welcome to Blackwood is our Dungeons & Dragons introductory session, introducing kids to both the game of D&D, and to the world our adventures take place in.  It is highly recommended that you participate in the ‘Welcome to Blackwood’ event before any other Knights of Blackwood D&D events.  Note: This is a repeat event, we intend to host Welcome to Blackwood every three months or so, so if you’ve already participated in this adcenture you should skip this one.

The Game: Welcome to Blackwood’ is our introductory D&D session storyline – this is the perfect entry event for new players, and any kids that haven’t yet played D&D at our store.  The region of Blackwood is introduced, the basics of role-play are explained, and the adventure begins!  This session will have a dedicated Staff as Game Master who will guide the players through the session.

All pages, maps, enemy characters, and other necessary items will be provided by the store – the only thing players must have is a miniature for their character, and a set of RPG dice (see the ‘Option’ above if you don’t already have these.

KoB: MTG Tournament (Youth)

The Knights of Blackwood is our FREE to join Youth Program.  Our goal is to provide great events for the younger players in the shop to participate in, and to that end we are very excited to bring new and experienced players a great inexpensive tournament experience!

When: SUN, November 25th, 12:00pm – 4:00pm

Entry Fee: $5.00 -or- 2 Hero’s Rewards

Event Details: 3-4 Rounds, 50mins/Round.  Sanctioned – Casual.  This is a Constructed tournament, which means that you bring a 60+ card deck that you’ve built to the event to play with.  There is no specific format to the deck, just bear in mind that most people will be beginners – so if you consider yourself more of an expert please don’t bring a deck that super expensive deck that you think will just destroy everyone.  We’re all here to have fun!

What You Get: All Participants will get a Hero’s Reward and a free Knights of Blackwood Pet for participating!  Anyone that plays all 3/4 matches of the event will win a Booster Pack, and the winner of the tournament will win an extra pack!

Adult Mentors: The Knights of Blackwood is a program for kids ages 6-16, however others can participate in this event, parents and guardians for example.  If you are older than 16 years old, you will be a ‘mentor’ helping out the younger players with rules and being a good example of a good sport.  Mentors will get all the same rewards as younger players, except the Pets.

The Game: Cirque de Sorcerer’ is a new adventure in our D&D session storyline.

A wondrous and mystical circus has come to the town of Blackmoor. Come one, come all, and experience a show like none other! But not everything about the circus is as it seems, and as kids begin to go missing, the Knights of Blackwood are called once more to get to the bottom of this mystery.

AoS Champions Open House Events

Since Age of Sigmar: Champions took the world by storm we have been eagerly awaiting the world-wide restock, and it’s finally here!  Now that the supply is once again available we can turn to running our first events for AoS Champions.

Building the Community: Since the game is so new we will be starting off with a couple ‘Open House’ events, to allow people to demo the game, get some games in with their own decks, and to establish the first seed of the community we’re hoping to build.  If you’re excited about AoS Champions hopefully you can make it out, and either way be sure to chat up Brad, our resident expert and official AoSC Heraldor!  Also, if you are a Facebook user, be sure to join our AoS Champions FB Group.

Age of Sigmar Champions Open House Event

Our first event is an Open House for AoSC, where you can learn to play, get some matches in, and win some stuff!

Entry Fee: FREE!

Format: As the name implies this is a very open event.  Brad will be on hand to teach the game to new players.  Additionally anyone that has/gets their own deck plays at least two games of AoSC (one of which can be your demo game), will get a FREE Booster Pack!

Prizes:  In addition to the free pack each player can earn, Brad will give away a beautiful AoSC playmat to one lucky player!

The Game: Beauty in the Eye of the…’ is a new adventure in our D&D session storyline.

With Yabobway recently defeated, the heroes of Blackwood thought they could take a break and relax, but the Dark Master has other plans. Join the next installment of the Knights of Blackwood as they try to figure what has occurred in their absence to stop Yabobway. Will the Guild Master forgive them for their crimes? Mot importantly, how will you handle Blackwood’s biggest threat?

Knights of Blackwood: How to Make Scenery

Join us for an afternoon of terrain creation!  Whether you are looking to make some neat scenery for Dungeons & Dragons, or looking to make your own wargaming table for Warhammer or other miniatures games, you are invited!

All levels of experience are welcome from total beginners to experienced creators– there’s always more to learn!

Knights of Blackwood: This event is open to all Knights of Blackwood members (our FREE Youth program for those 6-16 years old, so join now if you aren’t a member!)

When: Sunday, October 14, 11:00am

Entry Fee: $5.00 (Or 2 Hero’s Rewards)

Details: We will supply all the paint, and materials you need to learn things like how to make a building, walls, woods, and more!  Paints, stations, water cups etc are all supplied by us.  Parents and guardians are welcome to join too!

Prizes: All participants will get a Knights of Blackwood Pet!

MTG Guilds of Ravnica Prerelease (Youth)

The Knights of Blackwood is our FREE to join Youth Program.  Our goal is to provide great events for the younger players in the shop to participate in, and to that end we are very excited to bring you a Youth-Focused Prerelease event for Magic: the Gathering!

When: SUN, September 30, 12:00pm – 3:00pm

Entry Fee: $35.00 -or- 9 Hero’s Rewards

Event Details: This is a Prerelease Event, which means that you get cards from the new Guilds of Ravnica set a WEEK before they are released!  Participants will get packs, and build a deck at the event.  They will then play games with others and win prizes!  Play is open, but we will help players find opponents.

What You Get: All Participants will get a guild-specific Prerelease Pack that includes 6 Booster Packs, a Dice, and a Foil Pomo Card (taken from the Rares/Mythic Rares of the set).  Additionally all participants will get an extra Booster Pack, and a Hero’s Reward for participating.  Lastly, all Knights of Blackwood members will get a free Knights of Blackwood Pet!

40K KoB Kill Team Intro

Join us for an introduction to the new Warhammer 40,000 Kill Team rules set – an all new way of playing, with small specialized squads.  It’s an amazing new system that uses terrain, levels up your characters, and it’s something you can play with just one squad!

Knights of Blackwood: This event is open to all Knights of Blackwood members (our FREE Youth program for those 6-16 years old, so join now if you aren’t a member!)

When: Sunday, Septembe r16, 12:00pm – 4:00pm

Entry Fee: $5.00 (Or 2 Hero’s Rewards)

Details: We will teach everyone about Kill Team, and help you make a list, with a demo about how it works.  We will then play a couple more games, matching players together, helping out with rules, and teaching you how you can level up your Kill Team between battles!  Bring your Warhammer 40,000 miniatures, especially your basic troops, to build your Kill Team from.  If you need help deciding what to bring, ask the staff in advance of the event – and we’ll be happy to help you plan out your Kill Team in advance of the event.

Prizes: All participants will get a KoB Pet, and have the chance to earn a Hero’s Reward which can be redeemed for many prizes, including Knights of Blackwood Pets!
