Call to Arms: Warhammer 40,000

It is an exciting time for Warhammer 40,000.  With many ways to use your minis, including Kill Team and Apocalypse, there has never been a better time to collect an army of 40K minis. To help you with some summer motivation BKG will be hosting a Warhammer 40,000 Call to Arms!

What is a Call to Arms?: Call to Arms is one of our most popular event types.  It is an army-building league where everyone begins a new army, and aims to completely paint it by a deadline.  What makes it so fun is that everyone is on the same page at the same time.  Events run during the Call to Arms compliment the stages of building an army (for example an event towards the beginning might be for a single painted hero model).  At the end players all end up with matching-sized, fully painted armies, and have a similar amount of experience with them – which is a fun thing to be a part of.

Call to Arms Begins: July 2nd, 2019

Call to Arms Deadline: Sunday, October 6th (Party at 5pm)

Call to Arms Entry: $25.00 -or- 6 Hero’s Rewards -or- $15.00 for Knights of Blackwood members.

What You Get: For your entry fee you get the following:

  • A Call to Arms Collector’s Card – which has up to 10 Achievements to stamp.  You can redeem the card for $5.00 store credit for each stamp (up to $50.00 in value)
  • An invitation to the Call to Arms Finale Party, where we will have pizza, gaming, and prizes!

Call to Arms Collector’s Card: One of the main benefits of joining the Call to Arms is the Collector’s Card you get.  If you complete all nine achievements (including the double-one) you can earn double your C2A entry fee in store credit!  Here are the achievements you can earn credit for:

  1. Paint a Squad or Squadron  This must be a fully painted legal unit that was not painted before the C2A began
  2. Paint Your Warlord  Every Army needs a leader, it must be fully painted legal unit that was not painted before the C2A began
  3. Paint a centerpiece model  Pick a cool focus of the army, like a big miniature, impressively based unit, or something that is a focus when looking at the completed army, must be a legal unit that was not painted before the C2A began
  4. Spend $35.00+ on Hobby Supplies  In a single transaction, stock up a little on supplies like paints, glue, flocks, and brushes
  5. Spend $70.00+ on Models for the Army  Get something for the army!
  6. Play a Game in the Store  Play a Warhammer 40,000 game in the store, with your C2A forces, this might occur during an official 40K event, or separately
  7. Hobby in the Store  Hang out in the store and do some painting, assembly, or other hobbying in the store
  8. Finish your 2000pt Army  The ultimate goal: finish a legal Warhammer 40,000 army.  All models in the army must not have been painted before the C2A began
  9. Finish your Army by the Deadline If you complete #8 by the Oct 6th deadline you will get a bonus 2 stamps!

Note:  The only stamp that requires you to actually finish by the deadline is the final one.  You can still complete your army after the C2A ends, and redeem the card.  You do not need to complete every box to redeem the card, it’s just better for you if you do since each box is worth $5.00.  Cards must be redeemed in 2019.

Call to Arms Finale Party: We will host a Finale Party at 5pm on Sunday October 6th.  All C2A participants are invited, whether you finished the Collectors Card yet or not.  At the party we will have pizza, drinks, gaming, and prizes!

There has never been a better time to jump in to Warhammer 40,000, and we really hope you’ll join in to the Call to Arms!

Painting Table JUL

We always feel that the best way to paint is in a group.  Newer painters can ask questions and learn, good painters get to show off a little, you can bounce ideas off each other, and just enjoy the company of those that share this wonderful hobby with you.  In order to allow everyone the opportunity to enjoy group painting, BKG organizes our ‘Painting Table’ events each month!

When: Sunday, July 21, 12:00pm – 4:00pm

Entry Fee: None, just bring your stuff and paint with us!

Details: Bring any paints you’ll need, if you don’t have them or can’t bring them we will have some available too.  Bring whatever painting project you have on the go, sit down, and get painting!  We will supply some stations, water cups, paper towel, pallets etc.

New Painters & Kids: Want to learn how to paint, or something new?  Perfect!  We will have staff sitting at the table too, and they’ll be more than happy to teach you what they know.  Other painters will be sure to pipe in with their own advice.  So, while this isn’t an organized seminar event, it will be a great spot to learn, and in some ways even better because you’ll learn tailored to the project you are working on.  We’ll even give you a starting miniature if you’ve never painted before!
