Age of Sigmar Tournament

Generals Handbook 2017 is here, and we are excited to host the first Age of Sigmar tournament using the new shiny rules!

When: Saturday, August 2, 11:00am (Registration begins at 10am)

Entry Fee: $20.00 // 6 Hero’s Rewards

Lunch: A Pizza Lunch is included in your entry, including three slices, and either two pops/waters or one energy drink/juice.

Stronghold Members Get:Hero’s Reward

Format: 2000pts, 3 Rounds, Two Hours per Round

Forces: Every army must follow an Allegience (which can be a Grand Alliance, like Chaos, or a more specific one, like Breyherd).  Forces are selected using the Matched Play rules (General’s Handbook 2017, p.70), following the ‘Battlehost’ guidelines and utilizing the Rules of One and other ‘Matched Play’ rules.

Scenarios: We will be using the following scenarios from GHB2017: Knife to the Heart (p.80), Battle for the Pass (p.83), and Starstrike (p.84)

Event Scoring: Each player will earn a number of points for the games they play: Major Victories are worth 17 points, Minor Victories are worth 13 points, Draws are worth 10 points, Minor Losses are worth 7 points, and Major Losses are worth 3 points.  Additionally players will gain bonus points for the following: Up to three Sportsmanship Points (awarded by each player to the single opponent with the best sportsmanship), and two points for having a fully painted force.

Prizes: We will put $20 per participant, minus the cost of the pizza, in to a prize pool.  The top three players will all get a share of store credit.  Additionally one unlucky player will be granted a free set of dice – to change up their luck!

Game of Thrones LCG Tournament

Black Knight Games will be hosting a Game of Thrones LCG tournament this month.  Our goal is to get a regular pace of tournaments going that our community can get used to.

When: Saturday, September 2, begins at 12:00pm (Registration starts at 11am)

Entry Fee: $15, Stronghold Members get a Hero’s Reward

Rounds: This tournament will follow the usual rules from FFG for Swiss tournaments, including cut.

Prizes: We will be putting not one, but two Game Night Kits in to the prize pool!  One will be the current up to date season, the second taken from a previous season.  Depending on attendance we expect that each participant will get at least two promos out of the event, with the top players selecting theirs first.  We will add Store credit to the prize pool equal to the total entry fees after covering the cost of one GNK.

Board Game Night – Every Thursday!

Beginning tonight, Thursdays are officially a Board Game Night at BKG!

Join us for pick up games starting at 6:00pm.  Bring your own games, play those brought by others, or use those in the store open supply!  Some weeks will be more organized with specific games presented, however even if the Thursday evening includes a demo or mini-tournament of something specific, you are always welcome to play something else if you’d prefer.

When: Thursdays at 6:00pm

Entry Fee: FREE!

PPTQ Poll: Standard or IM Sealed?

We will be hosting our first Magic the Gathering PPTQ (Preliminary Pro Tour Qualifier) in some time this December.  We are given the option to run Standard (since the PPTQ season is for a Standard Pro Tour Qualifier), or Sealed Deck.  So we want to hear from you, which one would you prefer?

BKG’s Inaugural Guild Ball League Starts Sep 4st. – Sign up today!

Guild Ball players (and folks thinking about the game)!  With the release of new starter sets for the game, we’re excited to announce that we’re running our first Guild Ball league.  Registration opens today!

When: The league will start on September 4th

Sign up: Register your team by August 30th, if you wish to participate in this season.

Entry Fee: $10.00 // 4 Hero’s Rewards (entry fee is discounted to $5 if you purchase or order one of the new 6 player starter boxes at the same time)

Format: At the beginning of the league we’ll announce a schedule of weekly games.  Over six weeks, you’ll play other people in the league and get points for winning and losing (if you don’t play a game you get no points).  You’ll also be able to play up to six pickup games with anyone else in the league (it could even be the same person).  You’re get slightly fewer points for these games.  At the end of the six week regular season, the folks with the most points will be seeded into a bracketed elimination to crown a Guild Ball Season Champion.
