Infinity: Call to Arms

C2A Infinity 2013

Call to Arms is, in my opinion, the very best way to start an army or game system.  Participants get a deal just for signing up, saving them money.  They get an incentive to work at the army and get it painted, which is something most of us benefit from.  And, they get to build-up along-side others at the same pace – giving them instant opponents!

For our next Call to Arms army building league we will be turning to Infinity.  This time however we are changing up the format for Call to Arms somewhat after listening to customer recommendations.  This time rather than having an online journal, that was sometimes slow to be updated, and that participants didn’t often enjoy publishing to, we will try something different.  Part of the fun of Call to Arms is that you are building your army simultaneous to others, creating an instant community.  So this time we will be running a weekly league event every Sunday for participants to meet up, play some games, and check in on everyone else’s progress.

Entry Fee: $60.00

You Get: $70.00 towards miniatures for the contest (yes just for signing up you get a deal!), and the opportunity for more through the victory pool.

Begins: Now! (Feb 28th)

Registraition Ends: Friday, April 5th

Deadline: Sunday, April 14th

Victory Conditions: Each player must try to complete a legal 200pt Infinity force. In addition, the participant must attend at least two Infinity Gaming events by the deadline (which may include the final deadline event). Infinity gaming events will run every Sunday between now and the deadline.  If you are unable to attend on any of the Sundays you can contact us to arrange another time and place to get a game in.

Victory Pool: In addition to the deal that you get right off the top, Black Knight Games will be putting $5.00 into a Victory Pool for each participant. Anyone that completes their force (fully painted & based) by the deadline, and has participated in at least two gaming events, will be given an even share of the Victory Pool.

YuJingEngineersHoloInfinity Gaming Events: Every Sunday between now and the deadline we will be running an Infinity Gaming Event from 12:00 – 4:00.  These events are open to everyone, not just Call to Arms participants.  During these events we will have unique Infinifty scenarios, run by the staff.  These events will be a great way to learn your army, and the rules if you are a beginner.  For veterans it’s an opportunity to play more/new players, and just get some games in!

The final event will be on the deadline (Sun, April 14th) and will involve a similar gaming event as well as a final tally to see who has finished and who will get a share of the victory pool.

If a player is unable to participate in at least two of the Sunday events they can contact us and arrange another time to get a game of Infinity in with another opponent.  Please give adequate notice for this!

Armies: Forces must be a legal. Participants may use the miniatures that they have gotten with their entry fee, as well as miniatures that they already own as long as they are not already painted, or they may buy additional miniatures. If participants wish to use miniatures they already own they must prove that the miniatures are not finished beforehand.

So heed this Call to Arms today, and get your futuristic Infinity force on the table and painted!

Warmachine & Hordes: Machinations Umbra begins this week

WMH Machinations Umbra

New Warmachine and Hordes leagues always excite me.  This season is filled with secrets—tales dark and sinister.  Throughout the course of battling in this story-based league you will unlock secrets, revealed by unlocking “The Device.”  Story details can be found here.

Machinations is a yearlong adventure that focuses on the discovery of the unknown. Someone, or something, is plotting against the armies of Western Immoren as strange incidents begin to occur all across the land. Player’s will battle over the various sites where bizarre events are occurring in an attempt to discover the truth. This tale will unfold in short story fiction that accompanies each season, in the store displays and online maps that the players interact with, and even in the tabletop battles themselves.

Rules for this league are similar to previous rules.  Special league models may be used.  Games may be played throughout the week, as much as you like, but never against the same person twice in a row.  Report all matches played to the staff on site and he will update the Star map.

star map

Oh yes, the Star Map.  I should mention that.

Each game recorded is played at a specific location, which the player with fewer league points may choose.  Each of these locations have special rules and may change the game play.  Every time you win at a specific location it will score a result for your faction at that location, tracked by a global leaderboard.

Players participating in this season of the league will receive participation badges if they play at least three games.  The highest total score between games played and hobby points from painting wins a championship badge.

League games are a ton of fun.  Black Knight Games sets aside Thursday Nights for warmachine/hordes play and league games will be easiest to get involved in on those nights.  If you’re not available for Thursdays on a regular basis, cames can be played any other day, at any time the store is open while the league is running.

For any of you excited after the Journeyman league, or who want to test out armies for an upcoming tournament, or if you just want to kick back and play something silly, ongoing leagues like Umbra are the place for you!

Who’s the Boss? Warmachine Tournament

WMH Who's the Boss

Black Knight Games is excited to be running our first of a most exciting event style: Who’s the Boss?  In this dynamic and crazy steamroller tournament players will bring lists without warcasters or warlocks and be randomly assigned these leaders throughout the day.  Does Deathjack play well with Epic Haley?  How well does Karchev the Terrible lead a Legion force of heavy warbeasts?  Only time (and attending this event) will tell.

Black Knight Games staff and friends will be providing Warlocks and Warcasters, so please be very careful with these models.  Everyone is aware of the potential for damage, but let’s all try to be as respectful as possible.

When: Sat, March 2nd, 11:00am – 7:00pm

Game Size:  Create a single 35 point plus 5 jack/beast point list of the Faction/Contract (4 Star, Searforge, Blindwater, etc.) of your choice.  Do not include the Warcaster/Warlock or its bonus points.  Theme Lists are not allowed.

Hordes/Warmachine Bosses: If you are playing a Warmachine army, and you get a warlock caster, that warlock becomes a warcaster and gains all relevent rules (overboosting armor with focus, allocation, etc).  The reverse holds true as well: in a Hordes Army, getting a warcaster, that warcaster becomes a Warlock (and can now transfer damge and heal warbeasts as well as casting animi).  For models such as Epic Kaya and Old Witch, the accompanying models (Laris and Scrapjack) become a Warjack or Warbeast, determined by the Faction they play with.  Damage grids remain the same, as do abilities.

Entry Fee: $20.00 ($16 for stronghold members) which includes two pop and pizza lunch.

Prizes:  We will have coins available for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place along with a share of the prize pool based on attendance.

Come out and play!  Think on your feet, and see just how wild and crazy things can get.

I just wanted to issue a clarification to the Warhammer tournament that is coming up this Saturday.  Our Calendar has a mis-print that lists the points value as 2500pts.  The actual points value for the event will be 2000 points as listed on the events page.  We apologize for any confusion!
