Table Top Episode: Ticket to Ride

Another one of my favorites, the guys at Table Top have such great taste! Ticket to Ride is a great combination of simple gameplay and plenty of strategy. It is one of those rare games that will satisfy both the hardcore gamer, and that gamer’s family. Check out the various Ticket to Ride games on our online store!

War Torn Alliances: Thornwood

With the success of our April/May War Torn Alliance league Black Knight Games will be running another season from June 18th until July 16th.  For anyone who did not participate in the previous season of Black Knight’s WTA Campaign, this is a great way to get into Warmachine/Hordes or, for experienced players, to get in tons of games in a great miniatures hobby.

Throughout the league players will be allowed to play against other participants and report wins, but each Thursday (from 6pm – 9pm) we will host a special scenario and opportunity to earn additional points for participating in and winning battles.  Expect this season to have even more exciting scenarios than the last!

Privateer press Participation Badges are available for participants.  Players playing five different games with five different warcasters will have their badges upgraded to Combat Badges.  Any participant may also earn a Hobby Badge by playing five different games with five different fully painted warcasters/warlocks.  After playing two Mangled Metal/Tooth and Claw team games with your allied faction, you will also earn the Alliance Badge.

Best of all, results from the league here at Black Knight Games are uploaded to Privateer Press and affect a global map. What alliance will dominate the Thornwood?

The War-Torn Alliances give everyone an opportunity to shine in nearly all aspects of the hobby—painting and modeling, faction mastery, and working with a teammate to achieve victory for the greater good.

This season League Alliances are as follow:

          Cygnar–Trollbloods
          Protectorate–Cryx
          Khador–The Retribution
          Mercenaries–Thornfall
          Circle–Legion
          Skorne–Blindwater

The first special event day for the league is June 21th, but league games can be played starting on June 18th.  If you want to count league games played before the first event day, email me the result of your match, your opponent’s name, and what factions each player played.

Update:  Based on some feedback from players, we’re going to continue to count an unlimited number of games per week, but only score the first two games played against the same opponent.  We want to see a ton of Warmachine played, but we’d like to reward and encourage people for playing against a variety of opponents.

GW Price Increase

Games Workshop have announced their annual price increase. Prices on some models, about one third of the range, will change on June 4th. However Black Knight Games will be giving you some time to take advantage of current prices, and we will not be applying the change for an additional month!

I cannot post the list of changing items online, however we do have a copy in the store that you can look at to see what will be going up. And, of course, we will continue to offer our customers 10% Off the standard price, so once the price increase does happen you will continue to get a discounted rate on both Warhammer and Warhammer 40K products.

On the Table (Beasts of War)

For those of you unfamiliar with Beasts of War they make some great videos and post news about all kinds of table-top games. My personal favorite segment of theirs is ‘On the Table’ a bi-weekly news show about all the new releases and news around the wargaming world. Check out the most recent episode:

40K: Colosseum Eternal

Apocalypticon 2012!!!

It’s back!  Black Knight Games and MiniWarGaming are partnering again to bring you the biggest battle you’ve every been in.  Last year was the second year for Apocalypticon, although it was the first time that BKG was involved, and we had 43 participants and over 250,000 points of Warhammer 40,000 in the game.  This year we are hoping to at least double that, if not more.  The event will be held in Hamilton this year, in fact we are holding it at the Emmanuel United Church’s gym, which is only a stone’s throw away from Black Knight Games.

We have opened up registration to anyone that has at least a 3000 point army, and there are many slots however we are expecting it to fill up quite quickly, so if you are interested please register soon!  You can find all of the details on the apocalypti-con.com website, but here are the basics:

Dates:
Friday, August 10th, 5pm-9pm
Saturday, August 11th, 8:30am-5pm (but be prepared to stay later just in case)

Entry Fee: $50.00, includes both days gaming and an Apocalypticon T-Shirt!

So don’t miss out on this opportunity, after all how often do you see fleets of Baneblades, and more titans than you can count?  That being said if you can’t make it, or if spots run out, we will be filming it and putting it up on the MiniWarGaming channel, so you can follow all the action.

Watch Matthew from MiniWarGaming’s intro video about it.
