40K Call to Arms Underway

With the holidays coming up most of us will end up with a little bit extra time on our hands, and what better way to spend it then to get involved with our latest Call to Arms event! Call to Arms: Warhammer 40,000 gives you your first opportunity at a New Years resolution.

Entry Fee: $150.00

You Get: $175.00 towards miniatures for the contest (yes just for signing up you get a deal!)

Begins: Monday, November 14th.

Deadline: Sunday, January 15th, 12:00pm

Knights of the Realm: This event counts towards the standings for the 40K Knights of the Realm gaming season!

Victory Conditions: Each player must try to complete a legal 1250 point Warhammer 40,000 army. In addition, the participant must contribute at least two journal entries to the Call to Arms blog by the deadline. Journal entries are simple updates on how your project is going, and can include details, pictures, or even links to a blog that you might have.  Participants can submit their journal entries to info@blackknightgames.ca

Victory Pool: In addition to the deal that you get right off the top, Black Knight Games will be putting $25.00 into a Victory Pool for each participant. Anyone that completes their army (fully painted & based) by the deadline, and has submitted their minimum two journal entries will be given an even share of the Victory Pool.

Deadline Gaming: On the date of the deadline, Sunday January 15th, we will be holding running a small tournament or mega-battles for all of the victorious participants. So you get a chance to play with your new army right away, against other fully painted armies, and against competitors with a similar amount of experience playing with it. This always makes for some very fun matches.

Armies: Armies must be a legal 1250pts. Participants may use the miniatures that they have gotten with their entry fee, as well as miniatures that they already own as long as they are not already painted, or they may buy additional miniatures. If participants wish to use miniatures they already own they must prove that the miniatures are not finished beforehand.

The new 40K Call to Arms page is already up and running so you can follow everyone’s progress.  Participants remember to start submitting your journal entries.

Knights of the Realm: Warhammer 40K Gaming Season

The inaugural Knights of the Realm gaming season starts now!  Knights of the Realm is Black Knights Games’ new competitive gaming season, and the first one we are running is for Warhammer 40K.  The way it works is that participants register for it, attend various events like tournaments, leagues & call to arms events, and earn renown points for participation and achievement.  Everyone’s total will be listed in the Knights of the Realm standings.  At the end of the season there will be a playoff for the top four players for prizes, and the chance to be the champion!

For the first season of Warhammer 40,000 there will be eight main events spread over a six month span, as well as a couple of small events to be named later, that will earn participants points.  The eight main events will include the Call to Arms that just started (so you can still join in if you aren’t registered!), six tournaments (one a month) and a league in the new year!

Check out the Warhammer 40,000 Season’s page for all the details on this season’s events, and how many

Malifaux League: Court of the Puppet King

Malifaux is a dangerous place to live. When you aren’t huddled in your house worrying about zombies and monsters breaking in a dragging you away, you are outside, wondering when the next earthquake or volcanic eruption is going to drop a building on your head. It’s a rough place, where only the desperate would ever go, and only the strong can hope to survive.

And yet, despite all of these things, people bring their children with them through the breach…

The Court of the puppet king is a 7 week multi-player campaign set in the city of Malifaux. Players will be required to sign up with their name, and the faction they wish to represent throughout the Campaign. During the campaign, there will be a weekly scenario game run by the campaign organizer. These games will include all of the campaign players in one large match. Each week of the event, players will also be assigned an opponent, and asked to organize a game with that person to be played by the beginning of the next week’s event. These games will be played using standard Malifaux rules and scenarios. Players are asked to report the outcome of the event to the tournament organizer before the weekly scenario game.

The weekly individual games will be where players from each faction can try to gain an advantage for their team in the next scenario game. The weekly scenario game will be where players can gain a bonus for their team in the campaign finale, so every game matters!

The children of Malifaux are in danger, and the hidden court of the Puppet King is the key to saving them from a terrible fate! Of course you may be leading them from one terrible fate into another,  that is up to you

Start date: January 16th, 2012

Ends: March 6th, 2012.

Weekly Scenario games will be help on Monday evenings at Black Knight Games (excluding Family Day) Start time for weekly events is 6:30 PM.

Movember Update

So November is about half over, and the participants’ mos are starting to come in (well most of us…can’t say that mine is a work of art).  Kudos to all of those that registered, now the next step is getting donations!  Most of us (other then Justin – Way to go man!) are still very light on the donations, so get to using those hideous stashes for good and get people to donate to you!

If you would like to support our efforts you can donate to the team, or individuals on the team here:

http://mobro.co/blackknightgames

If you are interested in still joining, it’s certainly not too late.  Shave off that beard and keep the stash as is, and get collecting/raising awareness for a great cause!

Don’t forget we are offering two prizes as well, one goes to the person that gets the most donations, the second to the ugliest/manliest/most impressive/despicable-looking/creepy/thinnest/fullest stash as voted on by the BKG community.  Each winner will earn a $25.00 Gift Card at BKG.

Finally for those that have registered, make sure to post some pics of your hideous creations on your mo pages so that we will have a frame of reference!

Happy Movember, Keep Growing those stashes and those donations!
